Life-Like Pets - Chihuahua Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

I want my own Chihuahua SO BAD!!!  But a third dog is just not in the budget right now … not to mention the fact that my Border Collie hates small dogs…  

So I decided to do the next best thing – crochet one.  Here is my version of a life sized Chihuahua dog.  She measures about 10 inches from nose to tail and stands about 12 inches tall from ear tip to toes.  She’s actually bigger than many Chi-dogs I see at my cashier’s job at a local pet super store.  

This Chihuahua is super easy to make if you know how to read a pattern and can crochet in the round. All you need is a size G hook, about ½ a skein of worsted weight yarn, like Red Heart Super Saver, 12 mm safety eyes and a 15 mm safety animal nose and some polyfil.  The pattern includes a collar and the instructions to make your Chi-dog a boy!

Amigurumi is a Japanese word loosely meaning to knit or crochet in the round.
